The best things in life really are free. The Earth provides so many health benefits to us, at no cost! Something as simple as going barefoot can add value back to your body and health. The process of coupling your body with the Earth, by walking, sitting, or sleeping directly with the Earth's surface is called earthing, or grounding.
Connecting with the Earth is something that has become lost in this society and time. Ancient civilizations have always practiced having a close relationship with the Earth and earthing was simply their lifestyle. Now, our civilization lives indoors, wear shoes, or simply avoid contact with the Earth. Many have a perspective of going barefoot leading to germs or disease, when in actuality going barefoot promotes health and vigor. There is a science to it all, and it all ties to your vibes.
What is The Science Behind Grounding?
Our bodies comprise of electrical energy, known as our vibration. We mentioned in a previous post that this collection of electrical vibrations can fall in a range from low frequency, feelings such as fear, grief, or despair - to high frequency, feelings such as love, joy, and gratitude. Considering higher vibrations are said to have the ability to repel or destroy disease, it is good health practice to raise your personal vibration. How does the Earth raise vibration? The Earth provides negative ions that pair with free radical ions in our body, the ions responsible for aging, inflammation, and disease. These free radicals that accumulate in our body are simply from daily living. However, the Earth provides great remedy and neutralizes the free radicals and can lead to health improvements.
My Personal Experience | Benefits of Earthing
Recently, we went camping in Stone Mountain, Georgia. We spent 2 nights with our tent and sleeping bags and connected with Earth. I had a remarkable increase in my energy and felt amazing the days following. Our friends that joined shared the same sentiment, even stating they felt the best they have in years. A study published recently in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that grounding can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and heart attacks. Contact with the earth naturally thins the blood and reduces inflammation. This could result in better blood pressure and blood flow. Other earthing benefits include less stress, less depression, less anxiety, better sleep, slower aging. Any amount of time is beneficial - even just 5 minutes has shown a drop in muscle tension .
